Blood Type Racing (BTR), a Chicago-based tuner known best for its extreme enhancements to Korean vehicles, has previewed its Veloster Turbo R-Spec built just for SEMA. Although the SEMA-bound Veloster Turbo won’t be officially revealed until Hyundai’s SEMA press conference on November 3rd, BTR and Hyundai have revealed a very sinister-looking drawing of the sports car.
On the outside, BTR gave the Veloster Turbo a “Carbon Black” paint job with a red racing strip from the front splitter onto the hood. They then added a carbon fiber wide-body kit for a more masculine, aggressive stance, a rear deck spoiler, and front-mounted aero canards.
The Veloster Turbo is powered by a stock Hyundai-sourced 1.6-liter turbo four, and BTR added high-boost turbocharger manufactured by Garrett, new cylinder sleeves, custom connecting rods and pistons, and a custom-designed intake manifold. The result is a 500-horsepower spit-fire.
Though we haven’t yet seen the inside, we assume this Veloster Turbo is just as decked out and sinister inside as it is outside.
“The focus of this build was to boost the performance capabilities of the Veloster R-Spec while creating one of the angriest-looking Hyundai vehicles to chew up the pavement,” said Sam Lee, Director of Marketing, Blood Type Racing, Inc. in a statement.
Here at Joe Holland Hyundai, we’ll be staying tuned for the official reveal of this aggressive-looking Hyundai Veloster. Check back for more updates after November 3rd!
