June 23, 2016 will likely be a day that many of us will never forget. That day nearly 10 inches of rain fell across West Virginia in only a few hours. That torrential rain caused massive flooding and destruction across the state, including the death of two dozen people.
It has been more than a month, but the state is still recovering, especially since hundreds of homes were washed away and thousands of people suffered damage to their property and their spirit.
We at Joe Holland Hyundai want to help. We are currently collecting West Virginia flood supplies to help those in need. According to the West Virginia Flood website, the current urgent needs include leather gloves, Tyvek coveralls, N-95 dust masks, goggles and safety glasses, box fans, yard rakes, wheelbarrows, garden sprayers, and assorted tools. In addition, items such as medicine, toiletries, food, clothing, pet supplies, and baby supplies are needed too.
To volunteer your time, sign up to help the West Virginia Red Cross along with other non-profit organizations. You can also make a financial donation through the Red Cross or to the West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster.
